Women's Rights Are Human Rights!

"The system needs to change," you say, "But every time I try to talk about it to other people, I get blank stares. I must be going crazy!"

Well. Don't worry...

You're not crazy! (Probably.)

And you're not alone. (Definitely.)

This website's purpose is to help women fight injustice and realize their full potential. Included herein are interviews with and profiles of successful women, resources for self-defense, civil disobedience, building community, and finding other people who speak the same language you do.

If you're tired of "feminism" being a dirty word, of convincing people that women's rights are human rights, that philosophy, poetry and politics make better conversation than celebrity trivia--keep reading!

Don't settle for less than you're worth. Don't waste your life to no purpose. There are six billion people on this earth––surely a few of them have the same problems that you do. So what are you waiting for?

At minervana.com, you can learn about famous women (and infamous, unknown or all-but-forgotten women) who took on tyrants, institutions and other bullies, in spite of the long odds. Read the stories of talented women who refused to let discrimination stand in the way of their achievements. Learn how women's rights activists have carved out their own space for resistance.

It's easy enough to discredit a popular movement by a few examples. It's easy enough to assume that "if it doesn't work right away, it won't ever work at all." Don't buy that. Educate yourself about the women's rights movement, and how it relates to other popular movements, from indigenous rights to culture jamming. Learn about male feminists who recognized the need for equality for all. Learn how the word "feminism" was coined and the long build-up to its recognition, from Christine de Pizan to the suffragist movement.

It is not possible through solitary withdrawal, in the manner of embittered hermits, to prepare the ground for the overturn of this "government" or bring about the revolution at the earliest possible moment. No, it can be done only by the cooperation of many convinced, energetic people - people who are agreed as to the means they must use to attain their goal.
